The fake holiday is a call to arms to conservative gun owners as well as a direct rebuff to President Obama's push for gun legislation in the wake of mass shootings like the one at Sandy Hook Elementary. "Scheduled to send a message to Washington two days before Obama's second inauguration, the 'Gun Appreciation Day' is expected to rival ' Chick-fil-A Day ' as a public statement of protest against government policies," a blast email from the organizers reads. Some of the organizations promoting Gun Appreciation Day are so extreme that even the NRA won't go near them. (One of the now-disavowed official sponsors was a hardcore white nationalist political part y.)
readersupportednews.org - By Noam Chomsky - Jan. 19 (Opinion) - it goes across the board. In fact, it goes through the whole so-called Libertarian ideology. It may sound nice on the surface but if you think it through, it's just a call for corporate tyranny. It takes away any barrier to corporate tyranny.

But, it's all academic. The business world would never permit it to happen because it would destroy the economy. They can't live without a powerful state, and they know it.
NewsTrust Rating: 4.1 average (not enough reviews) - See Review » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

Rolling Stone - By Matt Taibbi - Jan. 03 (Opinion) - The 2012 presidential race officially begins today with the caucuses in Iowa, and we all know what that means …

Nothing.

The race for the White House is normally an event suffused with drama, sucking eyeballs to the page all over the globe. Just as even the non-British were at least temporarily engaged by last year’s royal wedding, people all over the world are normally fascinated by the presidential race: both dramas arouse the popular imagination as real-life versions of universal children’s fairy tales.

Instead of a tale about which maiden gets to marry the handsome prince, the campaign is an epic story, complete with a gleaming white castle at the end, about the battle to succeed to the king’s throne. Since the presidency is the most powerful office in the world, the tale has appeal for people all over the planet, from jungles to Siberian villages.
NewsTrust Rating: 4.4 average - 3 Reviews » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

PolitiFact - By Angie Drobnic Holan - Dec. 28 (Fact Check) - We've been rating Ron Paul since the 2008 campaign, the last time he ran for president. All told, we’ve rated 28 statements from him, as well as a couple of interesting attacks against him.

His overall record leans toward truth. We’ve rated seven statements True and seven statements Mostly True, on issues such as his claim about torture, the size of the U.S. military stationed abroad, and foreign aid to Israel and the Arab world.

We’ve rated four statements Half True, which included two attacks on Gov. Rick Perry.
NewsTrust Rating: 3.3 average - 5 Reviews » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

Michele Bachmann may have trouble living that blooper down, here are some of the more dubious assertions and facts we heard at the fascinating CNN debate Tuesday night, organized with the American Enterprise Institute and the Heritage Foundation. We examine 15 statements in all, and as is our practice, may come back to do a deeper look in the coming days.
NewsTrust Rating: 3.8 average (not enough reviews) - See Reviews » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer
