The foreign policy agendas posed by Ron Paul, Dennis Kucinich and Barack Obama all appear to have the same message: violence will always beget violence. In terms of terrorism, if the United States goes out, messes with the rest of the world and treats people like crap, those people are in turn going to start to hate you; it's a basic human reaction to extreme situations.

Bush on steroids) as the Republican nominee for president, their nearly criminal neglect of Ron Paul's candidacy in the 2008 presidential campaign is nearly complete. "Big media" have never deemed Paul a "major candidate," as their paltry coverage of him shows. In fact, the media often brand the ardent groundswell of popular support for Ron Paul as an odd curiosity.

But we found some of the candidates' facts just won't fly. -- Romney complained that McCain used "the wrong data" about job creation to support his assertion that Massachusetts had ranked 47th among the 50 states while Romney was governor. Romney was wrong; McCain was correct. -- Romney said his hundreds of millions of dollars in "fee increases" merely caught up with years of inflation and weren't tax increases in disguise. Independent budget experts contradict him on that. -- Romney said the over-budget costs of his Massachusetts health care plan were due to changes made by his successor. Authorities on the plan say that's mostly untrue; costs went up because more people than expected signed up for state-subsidized insurance. -- Romney wrongly claimed McCain's anti-global-warming bill would boost gasoline prices by up to 50 cents per gallon. Actually, the official estimate is 40 cents for most vehicles, and not until the year 2025. -- McCain and Romney traded oversimplified assertions regarding a "timetable" for withdrawing U.S. troops from Iraq. -- Huckabee cited a Heritage Foundation study to back up his assertion that rebates to taxpayers aren't as good a way to stimulate the economy as the highway construction he favors. In fact, the study does disparage rebates but urges tax cuts instead, not increased spending. -- Ron Paul repeated his claim that defending the U.S. "empire" is costing "a trillion dollars a year." But the dubious figure includes costs such as the entire Veterans Affairs budget. Paul also claimed "nobody" is talking about cutting spending, even as his rivals did so 14 times during the same debate.

Ron Paul Doesn't Accept Evolution

TruthDig - Dec. 23 (Opinion) - The one and only anti-war Republican presidential candidate didn't raise his hand when asked who doesn't believe in evolution, but it turns out he may have wanted to. In this clip, Paul responds to a question about the incident by saying that it was an "inappropriate question," but that "I think it's a theory--theory of evolution--and I don't accept it." Paul hasn't been hiding his religious convictions. He wrote back in 2003 that the "secular Left" has been waging a war on religion and Christmas and that "[t]he notion of a rigid separation between church and state has no basis in either the text of the Constitution or the writings of our Founding Fathers."

The piece has gotten substantial blogospheric attention, little of it positive. John Little sees not a revolution but a cult, specifically a cult of personality. This leads commenters to retort, rather persuasively, that Paul hardly has a personality at all.

Wade as "that horrible ruling," called for the abolition of the Departments of Energy and Education and the IRS, and attacked welfare and immigrants. But the most bizarre moment came when he suggested airline passengers should be allowed to carry guns, saying: "I think 9/11, quite frankly, could have been prevented if we had had a lot more respect for the Second Amendment."

However, I've been hearing, through the internet grapevine, about a certain libertarian Republican named Ron Paul, a 10th-term representative from Texas. There is a lot about this surgeon-turned-congressman that I like. * He favors abolishing the income tax as well as the Internal Revenue Service. He has battled for repeal of the 16th Amendment (which authorized the income tax) and the National Taxpayers Union has consistently given him a score of 100% every year that he's been in Congress, the surest sign that Paul has a conservative voting record on how tax dollars were spent.
