What is known about the North Korea Launch?

thebulletin.org - By David Wright - Apr. 12 (Special Report) - The launch will still teach North Korea about rocket technology it could use in a missile, but it should be clear from the trajectory whether this launch was in fact an attempt to boost a satellite into orbit. What is the significance of the launch? North Korea has not successfully launched a satellite into orbit. If it succeeds, it would be one of a relatively few countries to have accomplished such a feat. While the satellite is small and not very capable, it would give North Korean engineers practice at communicating with a satellite in orbit. That would be useful in regard to future satellites, even if they were launched for North Korea by another country.
NewsTrust Rating: Not rated yet - See Info » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

thebulletin.org - By Suyeon Kim - Mar. 02 (Special Report) - South Korean media have reported that Pyongyang suggested it would be willing to temporarily halt its uranium enrichment facility using the "no-load operation" method until the plant is proved to be useful only for peaceful purposes. (The no-load method means allowing centrifuges to continue spinning, but without feeding them the uranium fuel needed for actual enrichment. This process prevents the destruction of centrifuges, implying that the regime intends to restart enrichment at a later point in time.)
NewsTrust Rating: Not rated yet - See Info » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

Democracy Now - By Juan Gonzalez, Amy Goodman - May. 27 (News Analysis) - Tensions continue to rise on the Korean Peninsula over North Korea’s alleged sinking of a South Korean warship two months ago. North Korea has said it will sever all ties with South Korea and repeal a non-aggression agreement between the two countries. South Korea meanwhile has announced a stop to most trade with North Korea and is seeking action against Pyongyang at the United Nations Security Council. The South Korean navy is reported to be conducting a major anti-submarine drill.
The Press Association: N Korea blamed for cyber attacks

Press Association - Jul. 09 (News Report) - South Korea's main spy agency has said North Korea is believed to be behind the cyber attacks targeting government and other websites in the country and in the United States.
North Korea, which has been firing missiles and spewing threats against America, is not known for its computing prowess, but experts said such attacks would be easy - and cheap - to mount by hiring outside help.
The attacks began paralysing websites in the US over the July 4 Independence Day holiday weekend and in South Korea on Tuesday and Wednesday.
And a South Korean computer security company said another wave of cyber attacks was now expected in South Korea.
South Korea's National Intelligence Service told members of parliament's intelligence committee that Pyongyang or its sympathisers were believed to be behind the attacks, according to aides to two of the MPs.
NewsTrust Rating: 3.1 average (not enough reviews) - See Review » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer
