current.com - By Jon Raymond - Jul. 19 (Breaking News) - The film distribution industry is so annal about edgy films like this. Hounddog had to be re-cut and toned down after the controversy generated over the adolescent girl's rape scene, played by Dakota Fanning. It then ended up with a limited release at Lamelle as well. I haven't seen it since then. It shows only than one limited release on IMDB. Will The Poker House have the same fate?

Prospect - Jan. 07 (Special Report) - Overrated Hollywood movies. US ticket sales recovered this year, but to what end? This was a year for microculture, such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. The bigger visual productions of the year won't much stand the test of time. On the bright side, television drama continues to rise in quality. Underrated The iPhone. The world really did change on 29th June 2007. We now have handheld personal computers and personal entertainment centres, yet they are no larger than a thin pack of cards. And no, I'm not a techie, a gadget freak or an Apple lover. The device itself is beautiful as well.

Does it have to be so political?" from an anonymous source at Playtone Productions Charlie Wilson's War purports to be the true story of a hard-partying U.S. congressman from Texas who engineered the defeat of the Soviet Union by the Afghan Mujahiddin. Now there are true stories, and there are true-ish stories. In the latter half of the movie, there is one big lie and one item of anti-Afghan propaganda. The lie is that U.S. support to the mujahiddin went only to the faction led by Ahmad Shah Massoud, the Afghan leader who was assassinated on Sept. 9, 2001.

Ars Technica - By Eric Bangeman - May. 09 (News Analysis) - That's the piece that the other major studios that have feared when it comes to Apple's movie prices--$12.99 or $14.99 for new films and $9.99 for older content--on the iTunes Store. As a result, most of them have eschewed the iTunes Store in favor of Wal-Mart's recently launched download store. Even though Wal-Mart's digital reach falls far short of Apple's (and its movies won't play on iPods or Macs, natch), the studios were comforted by Wal-Mart's DVD-style pricing for downloads: new releases will cost up to $19.98 each with the rest of the catalog is priced somewhere between that figure and $9.99.
