AlterNet - By Lauren Kelley - May. 10 (News Report) - The Post reports that five former classmates of Romney's recalled the incident independently. The former classmates, who span the political spectrum, called the act "vicious," "senseless," and "idiotic," among other things.

One of the classmates, David Seed, ran into Lauber three decades later at an airport and apologized for not doing more to help him that day in 1965. Lauber, who has since died, reportedly told Seed, "It was horrible....It’s something I have thought about a lot since then."

Predictably, the Romney camp is in denial mode.
NewsTrust Rating: 4.2 average (not enough reviews) - See Review » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

While Romney obviously doesn’t need to do much pandering to win over conservative Mormons, voters surely wonder: Once he brings up religion, where does his Mormonism fit?
NewsTrust Rating: 3.1 average (not enough reviews) - See Review » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

It turns out it can be difficult to get the city to approve a new 11,000-square-foot house with its own car elevators, so to help facilitate the construction, Romney hired San Diego attorney and registered lobbyist Matthew Peterson, paying him $21,500 since 2008. With the field down to four Republican contenders, campaigns and super PACs are attacking their opponents with hot-button allegations about supporting Planned Parenthood, Obamacare and even Nancy Pelosi that are designed to strike fear in the hearts of Republican voters. There's been some piling on. We've seen several examples where two (or more) candidates have made the same attack. The one candidate who hasn't been attacked much: Ron Paul.
Fact-checking the Arizona presidential debate

PolitiFact - By Bill Adair, Angie Drobnic Holan - Feb. 23 (Fact Check) - Wednesday night's Republican debate in Arizona was a welcome return of our favorite show, but it ended with something of a cliffhanger.

It was Episode 20, but because no more Republican debates are scheduled, it's possible it was the last of the season.

What’s the ‘Real’ Jobless Rate?

FactCheck - By Robert Farley, Dave Bloom - Feb. 11 (Fact Check) - As the Obama administration basked in the news that the unemployment rate in January dipped to a three-year low of 8.3 percent, Republicans Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich threw a wet blanket on the announcement. Romney said the “real unemployment rate” was actually 15 percent, and Gingrich said that when you include people who have simply given up on trying to find a job, the rate “jumps up to about 12 percent.”

But they are referring to legitimate yardsticks of “alternative measures of labor underutilization” put out by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
NewsTrust Rating: 4.0 average - 3 Reviews » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer
