Still, there were a number of statements made by the candidates that were factually challenged, exaggerated or lacking context.
Analysis: Pakistan's double-game: treachery or strategy?

Reuters - Sep. 28 (News Analysis) - "Turns out they are disloyal, deceptive and a danger to the United States," fumed Republican Representative Ted Poe last week. "We pay them to hate us. Now we pay them to bomb us. Let's not pay them at all."

For many in America, Islamabad has been nothing short of perfidious since joining a strategic alliance with Washington 10 years ago: selectively cooperating in the war on extremist violence and taking billions of dollars in aid to do the job, while all the time sheltering and supporting Islamist militant groups that fight NATO troops in Afghanistan.

Pakistan has angrily denied the charges, but if its critics are right, what could the explanation be for such duplicity? What strategic agendas might be hidden behind this puzzling statecraft?
NewsTrust Rating: 3.4 average (not enough reviews) - See Review » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

David Goodman - May. 11 (Breaking News) - A reporter for Al Jazeera’s English-language news channel who disappeared while covering the uprising in Syria almost two weeks ago has been transferred to Iran, the network said Wednesday.

Al Jazeera has sought information from the Syrian government on the whereabouts and condition of the reporter, Dorothy Parvaz, since losing contact with her on April 29, shortly after she arrived in the Syrian capital, Damascus, from Qatar. It was five days before Syrian officials confirmed she was being held in the capital. The network said the officials told them that she would be released.
NewsTrust Rating: 3.5 average (not enough reviews) - See Reviews » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

Iran nuclear plans: Bushehr fuel to be unloaded

BBC News - Feb. 26 (News Report) - Iran confirms it is having to remove nuclear fuel from the Bushehr reactor, in what is seen as a setback for its nuclear ambitions.

On Friday, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said it had new information on "possible military dimensions" to Iran's nuclear plans, which Iran says are purely peaceful.

The IAEA will supervise the unloading of fuel from Bushehr, Iran's nuclear envoy Ali Asghar Soltanieh said.

Iran began the Bushehr project in 1976.

Iran's Fars news agency says the fuel is being removed for "technical reasons".

The fuel at Bushehr is being provided by Russia, which built the plant and whose engineers will carry out the unloading, under the supervision of the IAEA.
NewsTrust Rating: 2.6 average (not enough reviews) - See Reviews » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer
