GlobalPost - By Mark Starr - Apr. 14 (News Analysis) - On the surface, it was a routine transaction, by his own count the 24th out-of-competition drug test administered to Armstrong since he returned to racing this year. And, as with all the others, the results were apparently clean. What apparently wasn’t spotless was the procedure. The Armstrong team kept the testing official waiting — while, they say, they verified his credentials — and Armstrong used the delay, estimated at 20 minutes, to go to the bathroom and shower.
NewsTrust Rating: 4.7 average (not enough reviews) - See Reviews » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

VeloNews.com - By Charles Pelkey - Jul. 25 (News Report) - On Wednesday, [cyclist Michael Rasmussen] handily dispatched his nearest challenger - Discovery Channel's Alberto Contador - winning the Tour's most difficult stage and adding to his already-formidable lead as the race made its final trip into the mountains.

But Rasmussen was apparently unable to defeat the growing skepticism surrounding his performance and his behavior over the past few months. On Wednesday evening, when the Dane should have been celebrating his all-but-certain victory, his own team withdrew him from the Tour and fired him.
NewsTrust Rating: 5.0 average (not enough reviews) - See Review » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

The Wiki Defense

Columbia Journalism Review - By Jennifer Hughes - Jun. 05 (Special Report) - ... recently Landis has begun generating more nuanced press coverage. The change is largely the result of his Wiki Defense, in which he posted 370 pages of his test documents online in the hope of unearthing experts and explanations for the suspicious result. "Wiki" refers to the open editing systems best embodied by Wikipedia, the online encyclopedia that relies on a wisdom-of-crowds approach to verifying the accuracy of its entries. Landis is the first athlete to use the Internet in this way, and the move sparked a series of debates on blogs and in chat rooms as scientists and other experts responded to the documents. "A scientist from NASA called me up and said, 'I bet you never thought you'd be hearing from NASA,' " Dr. Arnie Baker, Landis's longtime friend and coach, told the Pennsylvania crowd. "I told him he was the third one from NASA alone."
NewsTrust Rating: 4.0 average - 12 Reviews » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer
