A routine inspection of Kermit Gosnell’s abortion clinic had turned up problems as early as 1989, according to official reports. More recently, hospital workers and attorneys had repeatedly contacted state health officials with disturbing reports about women who had contracted the same venereal disease after visiting the clinic; a 14-year-old girl who had had an illegal abortion at 30 weeks of pregnancy; and a 41-year-old Virginia woman who had died after an abortion. ...

Nullification must never be on the table

NBC News - By Rachel Maddow - Apr. 04 (News Analysis) - some states are looking to nullify gun laws that don't yet exist; West Virginia is thinking about nullifying federal regulations on coal mining; and Mississippi, like Tennessee, is eyeing the creation of a nullification committee to pare down federal laws the state doesn't like. Let's also not forget that in North Carolina, there's pending legislation that says the First Amendment doesn't apply to the state, federal courts can't determine what's constitutional under the U.S. Constitution, and North Carolina has the right to declare its own state religion. If we broaden the context a bit, we can even look at the anti-abortion measures recently approved in North Dakota and Arkansas.

Wade , the Supreme Court decision that affirmed a constitutional right to abortion in the United States. As the case heads into middle age, a new survey from the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life found that only 44 percent of people between the ages of 18 and 29 could correctly identify what Roe was even about. But survey results like that one only tell part of the story. The fact that m any young adults can't correctly identify a particular Supreme Court case shouldn't be taken as a sign that Millennials—the generational term commonly used for anyone between the ages of 18 and 30—don't care about reproductive rights. (After all, some of our elected officials can't identify any Supreme Court cases .) Millenials' actual beliefs about abortion policy matter more than their ability to identify Roe .
