Q: Which browsers should the survey work on?
Q: Will the survey work with WebTV?
Q: I was taking the survey, and then it just froze.
Q: Which browsers should the survey work on?
A: We tested the survey on the current versions of Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator, Firefox, and Safari. If you have an older version of one of these browsers, you might want to try the current one. It will not work with WebTV.
Q: Will the survey work with WebTV?
A: Sorry, no, the survey will not work with WebTV.
Q: I'm using Firefox to take the survey, and after I finish filling out the first section of the survey and the story pops up on the right side of web page, I can't go any further. On the left side, there's an error message saying I have to turn cookies on, but they're already on.
A: You'll need to make a change to your Cookies settings. After you take the survey, you can change the settings back to what they were before:
Open up your options settings within your browser (called "preferences" if you're on a Mac). Select the Privacy section, and then open the Cookies section (click the + next to Cookies on a PC or the turn-down arrow on a Mac).
There you'll find two options under cookies:
[] Allow sites to set cookies
[] for the originating website only
You most likely have both of these checked. If so, you have two ways to fix the problem. Either uncheck the second option "for the originating website only" and then try again (if the page is still open, simply reload it, or click on the URL in the email we sent you). Then, after you finish the survey, you can check that option again to restore your options to the way you originally had them.
Or, in the same Cookies area, you could leave both options checked and use the Exceptions button to add www.surveymk.com as a site to "allow". Then either reload the page, or click on the URL in the email we sent you.
The problem is that we're re-opening the survey within a frameset that's located on our NewsTrust.net site, so your browser is rejecting the cookie because it's not from the originating site (NewsTrust.net).
Q: I was taking the survey, and then it just froze.
A: This occasionally happens when there's an unusually high load on the server where the survey is stored. You should be able to refresh/reload the page after a minute or so. If you already closed the window or quit out of the browser, don't worry. All your answers have been saved. Just click on the link provided to you in the email we sent you. That should bring it back up to the last page you completed.
Q: I started taking the survey, then clicked on Save and Exit because I couldn't finish it then. When I clicked on the link in your email to continue, the survey came up but the story didn't. How can I get the story to come up?
The story should automatically appear once you go back to the survey. If it doesn't it's probably because the server where the story is stored is slow. Try using the Previous link at the bottom of the survey page to go back a page or two. If that doesn't work, try again in a few minutes.
