Vancouver Sun - By Daphne Bramham - Jul. 27 (Special Report) - There's a knock at the door. It's the police and they want to talk to you about your political affiliations.

They go door to door asking neighbours about you. They call your family and co-workers and suggest that they might call your employer.

You're driving down the street. Police stop you and, over the next 40 minutes, you are questioned and your foreign visitors are warned they need to carry their identification documents with them at all times.

China? No, Vancouver. It's all part of the security shakedown before the 2010 Winter Olympics are held in what is supposedly one of the freest, most open and transparent democracies in the world.
NewsTrust Rating: 3.4 average - 3 Reviews » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

And they don’t have licenses because ... ?

That’s right! No government department is authorized to issue licenses for female-only sports clubs.

The catch-22 situation is another illustration of the barriers placed in the way of Saudi women who want to exercise and participate in sports.
NewsTrust Rating: 4.1 average (not enough reviews) - See Reviews » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

And, as with all the others, the results were apparently clean. What apparently wasn’t spotless was the procedure. The Armstrong team kept the testing official waiting — while, they say, they verified his credentials — and Armstrong used the delay, estimated at 20 minutes, to go to the bathroom and shower.
NewsTrust Rating: 4.7 average (not enough reviews) - See Reviews » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

Link TV - Aug. 22 (News Analysis) - The Summer Beijing Olympics have led to an all out race for golden glory. U.S and Chinese media focus a lot of attention on the battle for the most gold medals. But there are other stories worldwide of good and bad sportsmanship, the power to put politics aside, and of those who may not have won first, but revel in the opportunity just to compete.
