Feeling the Recession's Impact

Economists say the nation's recession is technically over, but whether or not the economy is actually on the mend, the recession's impact on New York City and state budgets is only just beginning. Over the last three months, Gov. Of the four related articles from City Limits' "Behind The City Budget" feature, this is the one most concerned with the big picture. It is very well sourced, and this article gives a better sense of the political flavor of the situation than the other three.

Informative report on how the economic recession is affecting New York City. This report provides a factual overview of Mayor Bloomberg's preliminary budget for NYC, as well as Gov. Paterson's proposed state budget. Well-researched, with reasonable analysis of how proposed cutbacks might impact schools and social services, as well as civil servants.
