Panel Reported No Violations for Five Years

An independent oversight board created to identify intelligence abuses after the CIA scandals of the 1970s did not send any reports to the attorney general of legal violations during the first 5 1/2 years of the Bush administration's counterterrorism effort, the Justice Department has told Congress.

Solomon's piece delves into the question of whether Congress provided oversight to the government, or whetther their decision not to fully examine recent intelligence activity was itself an oversight. This is one more piece of the puzzle. It hasn't been done before; the fact that it's now being examined is good journalism but this article is years late.

A scoop for the Post. More evidence of just how badly things are being run by this administration. Notice Dana Perino's response? Not "We'll fix it," but "...the President relies on.." the DNI:not his fault. Bravo Mr.Soloman.
