Though I find many of Abrams premises problematic, this is a rich interview by someone who clearly understands the conflict (albeit from a pro-Israel perspective).

Interesting in what it doesn't do, which is to give a valid indication of the Palestinian point of view as I've read it anywhere else. One of the more biased stories I've read recently.

Elliott Abrams, a leading neocon who did a great deal to bring on the catastrophe in Iraq, argues in favor of avoiding negotiations (for Israel/Palestine solution), and pushes for "state-building". Abrams claims Syria, Hamas and Hezbollah (and Iran) are the problems preventing a solution.

I regard Abrams as one of the greatest fools to wield substantial power formulating UDS policy in the Middle East. Abrams blocked a Syrian peace deal with Israel, during the Bush administration. Abrams seems incapable of grasping the fact Israel must get out of the Golan Heights and the entire West Bank. Period.
