Olbermann: Bush, Cheney Should Resign

'I didn't vote for him, but he's my president, and I hope he does a good job.'

It is nearly July 4th, Mr. Bush, the commemoration of the moment we Americans decided that rather than live under a King who made up the laws, or erased them, or ignored them - or commuted the sentences of those rightly convicted under them - we would force our independence, and regain our sacred freedoms.

Very powerful. Truth stings and at the same time revives our hope. This has the quality of old time journalism, when journalists voiced the outrage of a country. This is of the caliber of Edward R. Murrow speaking truth to the powerful. But I'm afraid Bush won't listen. We know he won't listen. He believes he is ordained by God. What can anyone say to him? We can only talk among ourselves. Impeachment? Do we put the country through another impeachment so soon. Even if the last one was frivolous, who has the stomach for a gut wrenching process that will take the remainder of his presidency to accomplish? Would our purpose be better served to have the enraged public go to the polls in 2008. I believe you will see this country united in a way that we haven't seen in a long time. Impeach him and you will see the country divided, you will see how it gets used as a political tool to discredit those who advocate impeachment. The issues will become distorted. As things stand now, the issue is blaringly clear (to all but Bush and company).
