Kanter provides an extremely well-written, well-sourced look at the "geeky" side of the non-profit world, social networking and role-playing as a philanthropic tool. Some might find its focus on technology a bit off-putting but its one of the best blog posts I've personally read, as far as journalism goes, in a a long time.

An ingenious extension of TechSoup's virtual office in Second Life's domains. People who want to help each other are finding new ways of interacting virtually and attaining charitable goals. You practically need to visit TechSoup and Second Life to see the way the two initiatives merge in order to amplify and make successful TechSoup's nonprofit activities.
