Did Bernard Kouchner really endorse the Iraq War?

Kouchner had long decried the tyrannical horrors of Saddam Hussein's Iraq, and he often berated the international community for not coming together to remove the dictator, but he repeatedly opposed the American invasion. I found the comments almost as interesting as the story. Just as the mistranslation of the Iranian president's remarks have been repeated to support his supposed intentions to attack Israel, the translation of Kouchner's remarks seem equally elusive. Without enough French to weigh in, I can't say how accurate the story is. But it makes me think, not for the first time, how much poorer our culture is because we do not speak more languages--as is common in so many other countries.
