An even-handed, realistic report on refugees returning to their homes in Swat. Not unlike stories we've seen elsewhere this week. Unsettling, however, that the same author wrote a similar story for FT less than three weeks ago (links) -- the return of the displaced seems to be taking longer than some hoped it would and officials are too content to boast the stabilization of Swat.

Something of a human interest story combined with a news report. Solid, with nothing outstanding, and nothing particularly right.

This rather short article reminds readers of the situation of Svat valley and the problem of persisting Taliban influence. The question of international financial help is noted.

I think it is quite obvious that Pakistan needs international humanitarian help. How safe is it for international organizations to work in critical parts of Pakistan?
