MacGillis here put together a well referenced story on the Romney refusal to release financial records, and a similar refusal to discuss any details of his planned policies. The failure of the press and the Obama campaign to make a big deal of it is a detriment to the good of the nation in this election and probably into the future.

Not only that, Romney has—unlike candidates Barack Obama, George W. Bush and John McCain—refused to identify his “bundlers,”the hundreds of people who have each raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for him. This has, among other things, spared him the sort of stories that Obama’s had to contend with, looking at the unsavory connections and interests of his fundraisers. And, of course, Romney has provided exceedingly scant detail on basic elements of his platform,
