I believe it is okay journalism. I would have like to see equal information on each of the 4 states. The article appeared to me mostly centered on Maryland.

Hi Karlin, Overall a good article. I did learn a few interesting facts I did not know before. Like strengthing the law on gay marraige and adding it to our state constitution. I was also surprised to learn that there was a divide with in the Catholic community. The Catholics have always been known for it's ultra conservatisim. Cathleen

Summary: The Star Tribune explained that marriage can be in same sex marriage in the article, “Referendums on Nov. 6 give gay marriage backers 4 chances to end 32 state losing streak.” What’s New: In the article it states that, 32 states have opposed to same sex marriage in 1998. In 2012 nearly 4 states are voting. It would mean that a lot to them because it would prove the public is moving in that direction towards same sex marriage. Balance: The story has 8 quotes; 1 being from the president of Human Rights Campaign; 1 being from the National Organization for Marriage; 2 being from manger of the Marylanders for Marriage Equality campaign; 1 being from a dedicated Catholic; 1 from another Catholic whose gay son is ... Summary: Star Tribune, Local is explaining that same-sex marriage can be. It states that back in "1998, 32 states have held on the same-sex marriage, and all 32 have opposed it." But with "Nov.6th referendums on the issue and gay-marriage advocates believe there's a strong chance that the streak will be broken." What's New: There are 4 states, of the 32 whom had opposed, from which same-sex marriage can win the votes. If in at least winning 1 of 4 it will show "proof that the public has moved our way dramatically." said Griffin. Balance: There are multiple quotes in this article (8 quotes). The article tells of each person/groups opinions on same-sex marriage. Transparency: This article is biased, it tends to favor one side over another.

This article is a very informative piece. It shows both sides of the opposition and the supporting sides of the argument for passage or not. I found this article interesting because of the points it talked about and the stats it showed.
