Welch Conspiracy Theory on Jobs Data Not Tied to Reality
A good conspiracy theory is irrefutable. A bad one usually collapses when confronted by reality.
The claim by some supporters of Republican challenger Mitt Romney that President Barack Obama’s Chicago-based campaign doctored September’s unemployment figures for political gain fall into the second category, according to members of both parties who have served in the government’s economic data system.

A significant further note on unemployment causes is very important. The republicans in 2009 have been recorded as stating that their PRIMARY objective for the next four years was to "make Obama a one term president." They knew that if unemployment numbers were high in 2012 their objective would be much helped. Republicans in congress worked at blocking job stimulus in the private sector, and opposed temporary assistance to states to protect public sector jobs of teachers, police, and librarians. The 7.8% number was obtained in spite of their best efforts. No wonder there are rich white republican predatory capitalists all angry at their failed efforts and lashing out irrationally.
