Kokesh Penalty Reduced to General Discharge

Lebowitz said even though the appeal will continue, the general discharge was a good outcome for his client: "I want to stress that we did beat them back on the other-than-honorable (discharge)."

The bush administration was trying to chill anti war statements of people coming out of the military. A legal push-back resulted in a lessened punishment. This is another worthy warning that we need to protect free speech rights from would-be tirants.
