Democrats to Press Health Bill With Simple Majority

Seeing no prospect of a bipartisan agreement on health care, Congressional Democrats said Friday that they would make another effort to pass sweeping health care legislation on their own.

This breaking news report provides good factual information on the decision by Democratic leaders in Congress to try passing their health care reform bill through reconciliation. But I am surprised to only see one Republican quoted, versus dozens of quotes for Democrats.

It is about dam time. We have been debating health care for nine decades and conditions keep getting worse. As far as the tactic of reconciliation, I see no problem. It still requires a simple majority and the Republicans had no qualms whatsoever about using to benefit the wealthy and corporate America at the expense of the bottom 80%.
