This is an example of bad journalism on several counts. It perpetuates the myth that presidents have sole responsibility for the economy. It fatally ignores all the repugnantcon efforts for three years to stall the economy in order for the myth of presidential responsibility to fall an the head of the president they hate. It ignores the systemic decline in US employment that is due to off-shoring jobs under destructive corporatist trade policies that are strongly championed by repugnantcons and ignorantly joined in support by weak dumbocrats who seem to fear corporate dollars flowing to their opponents.
Our global economy is in decline because of resource depletion, climate change, and overpopulation. The US is suffering along with those forces, with trade and work visa policies, with outflow of industry, as well as an over-allocation of resources to military waste. Unemployment will stay high in the long term regardless of who is president. The strong emphasis by repugnants upon secret corporate trade and finance at the cost of the commons and the people would only accelerate it.
