The world is in dire need of some good news from this theater of conflict so perhaps the LA Times ran this article as a public service --- regardless of their motivation, the piece is little more than a press release for the US Defence and State departments; a feel-good piece the PR pros on Madison Ave. would be proud to call their own. Several quotes from "high-ranking government officials" and soldiers, none from Pakistanis. The mention of US unmanned drones (deep into the article) suggests "These drone attacks have KILLED suspected militants, but they have also caused civilian CASUALTIES {my capitalization}. an avid sports fan will tell you , a team can suffer a rash of casualties in a hard-fought game. Paleeese, LA Times, spare me the "spin".
It's a matter of record that the Pakistani intelligence service (ISI) wields tremendous power in Pakistan, and has a long history of "playing" the US, the Saudis, and even Iran, in a series of shell games; offering to help find one US soldier is similiar to someone turning in a lost wallet --- as the Titanic is sinking.
