Good opinion piece full of good news with good supporting data which seem to indicate we’re on the way out of the right wing’s abyss of dark wickedness. However, given the resilience of the right wing and its ability to cast evil spells–much like the bad witch of the North or Snow White’s evil stepmother–one mustn’t give in to complacency. And given the fact 9/11 succeeded beyond terrorists’ wildest dreams in that it really did terrorize Americans–many of whom still remain terrorized–we’re not yet out of the black forest.

I have often ended reviews with: “who needs foreign terrorists when we have the right wing here in America?” An accurate question considering the right wing learned much from 9/11. Basically the lesson was that a sufficient number of Americans could be terrorized–and if scare tactics were continually applied–remain terrorized. “Just keep me safe, let me have my toys, and you can take away my privacy, my freedoms and my Democracy” became the mantra.
