Sarkozy, Hollande set to advance in French runoff election

Francois Hollande, the Socialist candidate for president of France, staked a clear lead over President Nicolas Sarkozy in Sunday’s first round of voting, according to exit polls, and headed into a May 6 runoff election favored to become the country’s next chief executive.
