Mercenaries fighting America's wars? Yes, thanks to Vice President Dick Cheney and his ilk, who wants to privatize everything including the armed services. Aside from the huge fortunes to be made from the public trough (think Haliburton), sending mercenaries to war is less likely to limit an aggressive U.S. Foreign policy than sending your son and mine out to some godforsaken desert to die for oil or power. We the people might say NO. Blackwater isn't just any old Mercenary Company, but is so tied in with the Neo-Cons and their agenda that it could almost be considered part of the Bush Administration. Blackwater is owned and operated by former Navy SEAL, Erik Prince, son of billionaire (Prince Automotive) Edgar Prince, a right wing fundamentalist Christian and major Republican campaign contributor. Before the elder Prince died in 1995 he founded the Family Research Council with Gary Bauer. The Prince family, including Prince's mother and sisters are active in Michigan politics and Republican fundraising. It seems particularly appalling that people who consider themselves "Godly" should allow a corporation they own to behave in such a vicious and unchristian manner. But perhaps this situation sheds some light into the basic values of both the Neo-Cons and those Fundamentalist Christians who are trying to teach the rest of us lessons in morality.
