A good article, and political. Many American politicians are opposed to taxing the wealthy more like they used to be taxed just a couple of decades ago, and that fueled the inequality. At least, the professor's message is like that if not the exact words. This article uses many data and references, but even then, who cares! And the readers are differing as if it's a matter of debate! A wild dream: Had the American academia revieweed this article!
Recommended overview of why income inequality matters. A lot of research has been conducted on this subject and this article skims the surface of a complex field. In fact, income inequality has been linked to a range of social ills, from worse health outcomes to increased crime. Nonetheless, this is an excellent introduction to a subject that does not receive enough attention in the mainstream media.
