Stop Keystone pipeline before it's too late

The purpose of Keystone XL is to bring tar sands crude oil through the United States to Gulf Coast refineries. The route through the United States is actually the oil industry's second choice: Transporting the oil west from Alberta to the Pacific Coast would be shorter and much cheaper, but Canadians concerned about environmental impacts and threats to native people's lands are challenging that route, and with good reason. this is an informative piece from ted turner on the keystone tar sands oil pipeline. he states upfront that he has property near a part of the projected line, which surely will be used to discredit his opinion. that opinion however is validated by the information he presents, along with the known history of the human and wildlife costs to oil production. as he presents the case, we must look at our own question: if the canadians themselves don't want this, why do we. we are not in a crisis for oil.

i hope ted turner's name will have some impact on the presentation of this opinion. oil producers have consistently manipulated congress and the public with false information to continue their massive revenues, and the futures market has continued in that vein to maintain the quickest, least expensive route to increasing profits, without regard to any other factors for the quality of lives of this nation and our future
