This article is very informative about the way African American women are portrayed by the media and how stereotypes about African women come up. In Prime Perspectives we learned that the media can play a big role in how the world thinks of a certain ethnicity. The main point of Prime Perspectives was focused on the way crime is portrayed in the media and how revealing the race of the suspect affected people's assumptions about that ethnicity. "The commercial realities of our time dictate that local news will continue to cultivate misperceptions and prejudice. Prime Perspectives reading talks about how media and news portray minority groups and how they relate violence with ethnicity. “The more violent the crime, the more likely the depicted suspect to be a racial minority.” Media usually portrays minority groups in a lower position which can influence and affect them. The article talks about how African American women feel, half of them recalled racism as the biggest problem and worries them about being discriminated.
