The story paints a worrisome picture of current extra-legal private mercenaries repeating paramilitary despotism and warlords in the US, such as the right wing dictatorships that were created in Central and South America by many in the current regime. Could they lead to a repeat the fall of Rome if the Praetorian Guard were in the wrong hands? If?
