Politifact came up with a politically correct "lie of the year" which Paul Krugman and Steve Benen handily disparage in the provided links. The decision was obviously imposed from the top down on the staff with a finger to the wind in order to appease the squeaky right wheels of this no longer serviceable vehicle of communication.

Both Politifact and FactCheck have a talented staff of analysts. Without knowing them personally, we know who they are and when their advice is not being heeded due to internal political considerations. I believe a much better system was being developed here at Truthsquad with the crowdsourcing concept where dissenting opinions were published and when the verdict reflected the majority opinion.
