This is the wrong time to be talking about compromise...the stakes are too high. I don't doubt that there are well meaning people that got caught up in the Tea Party's agenda(which was contrived from the top-down), but this argument is a plea to give the school yard bully half of what is not his. It would be like talking peace after the Normandy landing. There are no longer any Republicans with any influence to moderate the junta that has usurped their party.There are few on the Left that want to expropriate what the wealthy have accumulated...let them have their mansions and their yachts...but make them change the rules so that there is a greater sense of fair play. Lessig goes beyond the partisan, to look toward the survival of the whole idea of democracy. His lecture in the link was very excellent.
