Worker Ownership Cooperatives Are Our Way Out of This Mess

I first heard of the Mondragon Cooprative of the Basque in Spain, back in 1994. My Mom had been telling m the Family History of the Cheveries who are Basque. The French had kicked the Cheverie's out of France. We ended up on Prince Edward Island. The English tried to kick us out of there. Although Michael inadvertently reviewed his own article, what's more important is the subject is very relevant at a time when we could use more alternatives to laissez-faire capitalism. I'm throwing up a couple links that explain a little more about the Mondragon cooperatives in a historical context. The wikipedia link shows an amazing 9:1 maximum ratio of a general manager over a minimum wage worker/owner. Can anyone imagine that on Wall Street? The Jim Hightower video gives an historical context here in the U.S.

This is just the basics of a better way to work, which has some links to Cooprative Movements popping up around America, that are modeled after the Mondragon Cooperative of the Basque in Northern Spain. Mondragon owns its own bank, like a Credit Union, and has its own Collage which trains its Worker Owners'.
