Classic libertarian anti-regulatory argument. Well-argued and convincing given the apparent resolution to the recent spinach problem, though seems to conflate gov't monitoring with gov't regulatory standards. This considerably weakens the argument since while the former is costly and inadequate, as the author argues, the latter has obviously benefited consumers immensely in myriad industries.
