Fear-Mongering and Fiction: Cheney Addresses West Point Grads

The veep last spoke at West Point four years ago. He is still peddling the phony link between Iraq and Al Qaeda

There were moments when it seemed that he had simply recycled an old speech from 2002. Indeed, long after most members of the Bush administration have distanced themselves from some of the more insidious claims that propelled the U.S. into war with Iraq, the vice president continues to repeat them as fact. Brief but noteworthy. BTW: "We are there because, after 9/11, we decided to deny terrorists any safe haven" is taken to be a lie because that was not the principle reason given for invasion after 9/11. It was WMDs, which we know now there was scant evidence for even then, as the UN inspectors told us candidly at the time. And Iraq was not a safe haven for terrorists. Certainly not Al Qaeda, which is a religious group Hussain was hostile too as he was a secularist. Saudi Arabia was much more of a haven, and most of the 9/11 terrorists were Saudis. So that's actually more like 2 lies.

A rivoting report on the Liar in Chief's address to West Point's graduates is chilling in its propagandist content. Brief, simple, Cheney speaks for himself and whatever phantoms of the night he wishes to represent.
