The Case for Bombing Iran

But listen to what Bernard Lewis, the greatest authority of our time on the Islamic world, has to say in this context on the subject of deterrence:

MAD, mutual assured destruction, [was effective] right through the cold war. Both sides had nuclear weapons. Neither side used them, because both sides knew the other would retaliate in kind. This article is a short history of why Dubya has made the USA the laughing stock of the civilzed world. My biggest fear about this diatribe is that there are actually people who subscribe to these beliefs and semi-facts (out and out lies). As an American living overseas, I know by experience just how little people think of the current American government administration. Unfortunately, all of us Americans are getting lumped into this cesspool of anger and frustration. May I ask (much ot the consternation of many, I am sure) why Isreal is so sacrosanct as a nation? Why does it have the right to steal land from people and then be defended for it terrorist activities? Is this because the countries that assisted Isreal in becoming established on already occupied soil (England, USA, etc) were and still are of the same ilk? If they don' like people that are in a certain location - eleminate them! Yep. Worked for all the previous slaughterers of conquest. And all of those war mongering empires are right where they needed to be - gone! We can only hope that the USofA and her puppy, the UK awaken before it is too late. Do I support the activies of radical Islam or even moderate Islam? No! Not in the slightest. The real purpose of the Iraqi Invasion? Rumsfeld stated it best on the first day of the debacle when he called the programme "Operation Iraqi Liberation" O.I.L. and was quickly corrected by his staff. Why is the US so interested in Iran? Just replace "Iraqi" with "Iranian" and you get the picture! No amount of neo-com BS (and we all know what that means) can convince an awake and conscious people to think otherwise. Thanks for reading.
