An overly long (47:19) video questioning whether anyone is really winning the propaganda PR war, using 9/11 as an example of one salient technique. Obviously the 9/11 attacks had everything to do with assaulting hated symbols of America–big business and defense. But conservatives countered with anti-Muslim xenophobia, turning 1.5 billion into terrorists. That several thousand perished in those attacks is tragic. However, as Pearl Harbor, Vietnam, and countless other catastrophes demonstrate–loss of human life almost becomes a so-what? Buried under the plethora of propagandas. Some consider 9/11 our contemporary Pearl Harbor. Historically, it’s far too soon to judge effects 9/11 has on the world.

Actually in their 9/11 attacks, terrorists succeeded far beyond their wildest dreams. First, ten years after the attacks, Americans remain terrified their country will be somehow successfully overrun and therefore, have developed the mantra: “just keep me safe, let me have all the toys, tell me what to think, and you can do what you want with my freedoms–my rights–my country.” Secondly and more importantly, 9/11 taught the right wing how to be terrorists in their own right. ... The 9/11 bombing was indeed propaganda. Protests, strive, war, and bombings elsewhere hadn't worked. This pinned the tail on the Evil Empire.
