Depictions of smoking in movies will now be a factor when deciding what a film's rating will be, possibly making a PG-13 movie R-rated, the Motion Picture Association of America said yesterday. The policy affects only new movies.

Just more action by those with the belief that people actually follow films and film stars. Brovo to Chris Buckley, hope they reassess the films he names immediately. We are becoming so politically "correct" we are losing any "common sense" we once had in America.

Stories like this should always remind readers that ratings are enforced by some parents and some movie theaters, *not the law.* It doesn't matter if "Breathless" is rated "R" if educated parents and art house theaters are smart enough to realize that a 16-year-old kid who wants to see a classic movie should be encouraged for choosing such a film over PG-13-rated "Norbit."
