LEDs: Bright ideas in lighting

The light bulb, the symbol of bright ideas, doesn't look like such a great idea anymore, as lawmakers in the U.S. and abroad are talking about banning the century-old technology because of its contribution to global warming.

What comes next? Compact fluorescent bulbs are the only real alternative right now, but "bulbs" that use light-emitting diodes, or LEDs, are quickly emerging as a challenger. Full Story »

The only problem I have with this story is the ending of the lead. The author states as a know fact that global warming is human caused rather than a belief. The rest of the article is factual and to the point. He does caution that LED lighting like other technologies that substitute for the candle or whale oil comes with its own set of problems and features that people will have to get used to.
