Dershowitz Vs. Finkelstein: Who's Right and Whos' Wrong?

The feud between Alan Dershowitz, a senior professor at Harvard Law School, and Norman Finkelstein, a junior professor of political science at DePaul University, is back in the news. Finkelstein is up for tenure this year, and Dershowitz has been waging an aggressive campaign against him. Both Finkelstein's department and an outside committee voted in favor of tenure, but the dean then recommended against it. As of this writing, the university has not made ... Full Story »

He said, she said. Can someone generate a readable story from this? Maybe it is informative and accurate and important. I got more from the reviewer comments.

this is a scholarly, lawyerly investigation of charges made by Dershowitz against Finkelstein, based partly on attacks on Dershowitz's own writings for accuracy and originality and subsequent efforts on Dershowitz's part to (unfairly) influence Finkelstein's tenuring process. It is well argued, logical and highly persuasive. Dry reading, though. (And why not?)

Having followed this contretemps for some time, and Dershowitz's unlawyerly ad hominems toward anyone with whom he disagrees even longer, I can only assume an irrational Zionism has corrupted his common sense. It is sad, but his response to this article is typical when no coherent defense can be made. A good story and very carefully written.

Debunks crackpot Dershowitz line and verse...what do his students think? If extreme renditions can't be used on torturers and torturer advocates we may as well discontinue financing it.

The most thorough analysis I've seen on this stinging high-profile feud. Dershowitz is mustering all his clout to get Finkelstein's tenure denied. He even wrote a recent op-ed about it in the WSJ. I've been following this closely from both sides and this looks like character assassination. Dershowitz says Finkelstein makes ad hominems, but Dershowitz seems to be the one really doing that since his insults aren't even backed up by any argument about the content of Finkelstein's work, which is highly regarded.
