It a person focused story that reveals much about the feudal nature of Pakistani society. The writer could have done more to draw out the theme of the dead maid's employer, a lawyer and a former head of the Lahore Bar Association. It was after all the Pakistani lawyers, protestingin their suits and ties whom the NYTimes among others encouraged us to sympathises with when they were ebing beaten on the streets by Pakistan's security forces. Ironic then that a top Pakistani lawyer should be embroiled in such a murky affair.
