Reagan, White As Snow

Last week, as we've heard, the Republican presidential candidates praised the name and heritage of Ronald Reagan 40 times during the televised Show and Tell at the Reagan Presidential Library. That none of them mentioned Reagan's legacy of white supremacy and support for apartheid is a little like invoking Jefferson Davis and not mentioning treason or slavery. Full Story »

The evidence is real, but the over-the-top commentary is bad style. It is fairly easy to find contrary evidence, so this is not balanced.

Good manners recommends that we do not speak ill of the dead. This writer failed Miss Manners course. His faux pas is compounded by poor sourcing, relying on notorious slander artists like Sidney Blumenthaul as his touch stone for this vile piece.

The editorial recalls some history as a counterpoint to the iconization of Reagon used in the Republican presidential debate. The quote from Desmond Tutu is the strongest I have heard from him. History is a good thing to remember, so we can learn from it before it is rewritten.

I'm not a Reaganite, but this sort of invective has me searching for the sign-up form, just out of spite. If I didn't have to do this review, I wouldn't have gone beyond "Reagan was a mean, crazy old man". The author might have a point, but undermines his own credibility.

A clearly stated accurate account of the raciest regime of the Reagan we survived. I saw/heard him speak in Birmingham, MI and followed him through out his terror. His dis regard for the constitution and bloody end run in central America is not mentioned, but the nausea of which Tutu spoke was violently re-awakened during the media frenzy that was his state furneral.
