A major article about an initiative that hopes to become a major force for coordinating media which consider themselves "progressive"---in covert opposition to the conservative ("regressive") media network, and avoiding the easily-lambasted "L"-word, liberal. Clark and Van Slyke describe this exciting development with verve and in cogent detail, taking up in turn the strategic, economic, ideological, technological, and other aspects prompted by the topic, offering plenty of food for thought---and debate. (Compare, in its grasp of the challenges and opportunities such a coordinated effort involves, the Wikia Campaigns mission statement, another featured NewsTrust article.) My main question is not "What will conservatives think?" (reader comments on the piece show predictable responses), but---as this pivotal took place as “long ago” as 29 September 2005---what has the Media Consortium achieved since? Despite any shortcomings as impartial reportage, this essay should be read.
