A genuine political sea change?

There were two seemingly unrelated incidents this week which, taken together, reflect some extremely important political developments.

First was the amazing letter to The Washington Post jointly sent by all 50 Democratic Senators other than Harry Reid -- written in response to, and in emphatic rejection of, David Broder's self-caricaturizing attack on Reid this week, where Broder condemned Reid's criticisms of the Leader and the War and equated ... Glenn Greenwald with hyperbole sees Senatorial support of Harry Ried and Tenet's revelations as indications of an approaching sea change in which Americans wake up after 6 years -- and he continues his attack on David Broder. The observations are interesting though the conclusion may be reaching. Worth reading but I prefer my journalism with a less aggressive tone.

An excellent article that should have been written in 2003 when thinking Americans (a miniscule minority, to be sure) immediately understood the upcoming Iraq war was immoral and unAmerican. What has been unfolding the past six ghastly years has not been malfeasance, has not been duplicity, has not been larceny, and has not been incompetence. It has been the deliberate hijacking of democracy by a determined band of neo fascist ultra conservative religionists bent on rebuilding the world into their own distorted, myopic, anti-human, nutcake images and turning back the clock to the feudal age.

It is an anecdotally interesting opinion. It seems unduly optimistic; the celebration of the perceived weakening of the dragon should not distract the dragon slayers from their assigned task.

This is good reporting about a factual situation. More and more people will become aware that we as a culture we are emerging from the lockdown imposed by the reality-denying thought-police who have controlled so many financial and media resources. As a resident of Nevada I am most proud of Senator Harry Reid, and thankful for the support he is receiving.

this is a very optimistic opinion piece which basically reflects a new 'critical mass' of journalism and actions by democrats which the writer believes has turned the tide for the public. I hope he's got the pulse.

C'mon, be honest: this is an opinion piece, not journalism. Too much glee and backslapping, too little real analysis. And way too much credit given to a Congress that is every bit as malfeasant as the previous one. I'm sure there is quite an audience for this type of antagonistic punditry, but don't call it journalism.

I'm not inclined to think that one can accord a lot of credibility to this article. After all, this is a piece written by an individual who has gained widespread notoriety from having made countless posts in blogs of others using pseudonyms to defend and praise his own work and intellect; I believe that is a practice sometimes referred to as "sock puppetry."
