Finally, a non op-ed article. Its written interview format is a excellent, efficient way of getting information out. Cronkite grew into journalism during the Edward R. Murrow era--still regarded as the golden height of journalism. When journalists actually believed in their responsibility to keep Americans factually informed about important issues

The ethics of journalists reexamining their position when their understanding of the facts change is seen as a contribution from Cronkite. The honesty of Cronkite in seeing the Vietnam war as a failure is said to be a cause for the right wing developing their propaganda faux news empire.
