Republican presidential hopeful Thompson: Money-making part of Jewish tradition

Former Wisconsin governor and Republican presidential hopeful Tommy Thompson told Jewish activists Monday that making money is "part of the Jewish tradition," and something that he applauded.

Direct quotes are accurate, but other aspects differ from what others report on this story. For example "later" was really just moments after he made his speech, and Thompson did not "apologize". This article does not get the viewpoint of any offended person.

Worth covering -- slips like this do get at candidates' unexamined prejudices. Covers both his comment and his unapology. Does not say anyone was offended, though, only that the audience "stirred." (Would it have killed Shmuel Rosner to quote a Jew or two?) Can't tell if headline intentionally misleads one to think this is Fred Thompson, not some guy no one ever heard of.
