Gripping storytelling and good choice of cases, but this article doesn't zoom out and provide context on the overarching political or humanitarian crises.

Depends largely on compelling first-hand accounts without much context. Well written. Begins to capture the tension at the Syrian-Turkish border resulting from Assad's attacks against his own people. Effectively hints at the larger looming humanitarian crisis and how what is happening in Syrian could destabilize surrounding countries.
