Code of Conduct: Lessons Learned So Far

Rather than responding in detail to the many comments on my Draft of a Bloggers' Code of Conduct or the earlier Call for a Blogger's Code of Conduct, as well as some of the thoughtful discussion on other blogs, I thought I'd summarize some of my chief takeaways from the discussion so far.

An insightful blog post by Tim O'Reilly, in response to the criticism he has received by proposing a Blogger's Code of Conduct, which was triggered by the abusive use of blogs in the Kathy Sierra incident. Tim addresses fairly and thoughtfully the many comments posted on the web, clarifies his position, acknowledges some mistakes, and by and large acts like a good citizen and a fine journalist. These are important issues, which are well covered in this post, including great comments by many of the blogoshpere's best thinkers.

interesting, well-written and thoughtful examination of how to increase civility and dialogue in the bloggers' world. And an excellent example of dialogue.
