This is a snapshot of just part of a story of truly epoc proportions. The water problem is likely to dwarf every other single factor in future development of our western states. Historically, water and water rights have been bitter, acrimonious and even lethal hot butons at local levels, while remaining a sleeper issue nationally. That may change soon as it works it's way to daylight in our fed. courts and civic, economic and legal implications become apparent. More aggressive national reporting on this topic would bring well-deserved, timely attention to our citizens and legislators.
